A seedling of Northern Spy from Ottowa, 1912, Sandow is a midseason apple medium to large red with some russeting. Some scab resistance. High quality, aromatic, and juicy. Flavor is sprightly and reminiscent of raspberries. It keeps well for a couple of months.
It is one of my favorite apples for fresh eating. My trees will be two year whips this spring, and until they are bearing, this is one apple that I will travel good distances to buy.
